Red Meranti
This wood belongs to the shorea, which is a type of hardwood. It is most often employed in the making of furniture such as a bed, sofa, and also in flooring and roofing applications. Owing to its lightweight and light pink to light brown color variants, this wood is preferred for the interior designing. For this reason, we are facing a huge demand for the product.
Meranti is a medium density hardwood. The timber glues with common adhesives, nails easily and stains well allowing ready finished in a variety of interal and external above ground applications.
Color: Heartwood varies from pale pink to dark red, or from white to straw to yellow.
Sapwood cannot be reliably identified by colour difference
Origin: A tropical rainforest species found throughout South-East Asia and the islands of the South West Pacific region including the Philippines, Indonesia and east Malaysia.
Application: Plywood, interior furniture, general construction, concrete forms, veneer, and boatbuilding.
